  Well if you only have the domain then you will need a server to host it on. The purchase of your domain may have come with hosting as a package deal as is so often the case these days from places such as godaddy. You better check with the company you purchased the domain through to make certain. Usually that same company can also host the domain for you.

  It depends on where you’re hosting your site. There are some free hosts out there that let you use your own domain… though they’re usually ad-supported.

  But you can’t publish an unhosted website, so you need a hosting plan of some sort… free or otherwise. Either that or build your own host server, but that’s a lot more technically involved than just getting a hosting plan.

  you dont need domain to host site, you can use the host subdomain..

  Like Koolhosting.net allows their clients use their Koolhosting.net domain (eg: http://vampires.koolhosting.net/ ).

  Yes, although there is always the possibility of hosting the website yourself, but unless you want loads of people accessing your PC as a server, it’s not an ideal solution.
  You basically need:
  Your domain (you can use the dashboard of your domain registrar service to ‘point’ the domain at your hosting server using the DNS settings)
  Your hosting – somewhere that the files that make up your pages are stored – you can get hosting from the same place as the domain registration, but you may get a better deal by shopping around.
