By offering this free domain they are hoping to snag a large market share since nobody else offers a free domain. It will require a credit card for verification and they will put a logo on your site, but hey it’s free! (They also have an upgrade option if you want to purchase).

They have the power to turn this feature off if they want you to pay for an additional hosting package for extra domains. For example: My hosting company is siteground.
